Saturday saw the overdue conclusion of the 2022 season, with both County Cup Finals taking place.

In the Women’s final, it was an all-family affair as Pat Gilbertson took on her daughter Kelly Gilbertson. Pat couldn’t get going as Kelly took control of all 3 frames, completing a 3-0 whitewash and earning her first silverware of her NBBA career.

In the main final, it was Division One champion Jamie Parker going up against playoff champion Joe Foxon in the final honours of the season. Joe made a strong start, taking the opening two frames as Jamie struggled to find a rhythm. Joe began struggling on his break which allowed Jamie to grab the next 2 frames and ensure the winner would have to earn their way through the final. The players shared 5 and 6, keeping their own break, to set up a decider, not surprising given how close both prior competitions were between the two players. In the deciding leg, Joe made a solid 80 off his break, regaining some form from earlier in the match. However, with the equal breaks rule, Jamie took advantage, landing a 174 break which set him up for the rest of the match. With Joe rushing to try and close the arrears, Jamie stayed cool and potted his way over the line to earn his second cup of the season, and first County Cup of his career.

Well played to both champions, and a cracking day of bar billiards was had!
